Adolf Hitler's Biography
QUICK SUMMARY- Born in Austria in 1889, Adolf Hitler rose to power as a German political leader of the National Socialist German Workers Party, also known as the Nazi Party. Hitler was chancellor of Germany from 1933 to 1945, and served as dictator from 1934 to 1945. He along with his followers caused World War II and the Holocaust. Hitler committed suicide with wife on April 30, 1945, in his Berlin bunker along with the rest of his Nazi followers. He was aware of the attack the Americans wanted towards him for all the dread and horror he caused to the Jewish race and instead of being captured by the Americans and tortured, he decided to commit suicide instead.
HITLER'S EARLY LIFE- Born in Branau am Inn, Austria, on April 20, 1889, Adolf Hitler was the fourth of six children born to Alois Hitler and Klara Polzl. At the age of 3, Hitler's family moved from Austria to Germany. As a child, Hitler did not get along with his father and was constantly fighting with him. After the death of his younger brother, Edmund, in 1900, he became detached and a loner. His father did not approve of his interest in fine art rather than business. In addition to art, Hitler showed an early interest in German nationalism, rejecting the authority of Austro-Hungary. This nationalism would become the motivating force of Hitler's life. A couple of years later Hitler's mother allowed him to drop out of school. He became a watercolor painter and applied to an art school two times and got denied both. After that, because Hitler was out of money, he moved into a homeless shelter and later enrolled into the German army and served for World War I. He gained many awards for his bravery in the war. The Great Depression provided Hitler with the political oppertunity he needed to come into power and caused him to gain respect from the Germans and followers as well. He ran for president twice and failed each time. Though, he did gain more and more power each time running. Hitler used his position to form a dictatorship and made it so his Nazi organization was the only legal group allowed in Germany. Soon, Hitler and his Nazi group were taking over and gaining command over Germany through his powerful speaches and propanganda against the Jewish race. Thus started the beginning of the Holocaust.
